Weird Twitter: Tech and Startup Edition

So "Weird Twitter" is a thing. If you need a little background be sure to check out Weird Twitter Explained by Nick Douglas. At a high level it's a collection of Twitter accounts that together write in a similar and less accessible writing style. There's a lot of personas and insider jokes going on that are extremely funny to an extremely specific audience.When it comes to the tech industry and startups we have our own little Weird Twitter happening. Ours consists mostly of parody accounts and lighthearted mockery of our unique industry. These accounts make for a nice break from the usual drudgery of tech found on Twitter each day.Here's a handy guide to some of the accounts of note.

@fakesacca

One of the original tech parody accounts this basically started it all. As the story goes, its creator would go on to become an integral part of Twitter's history. Before that he poked a little fun at early Twitter investor Chris @Sacca.

Perhaps one of the best examples of Weird Twitter for tech, this giant dinosaur spits out fire and advice for entrepreneurs.

When two star-crossed investors are united, magic happens.

Looking for a good VC? How about a bad one instead?

A parody account so good you might have trouble telling these tweets apart from the real @Alexia Tsotsis.

@yurimilner

Despite his large investment in Twitter, well-known Russian investor Yuri Milner does not tweet. So this parody account will have to do for now.

@the_tech_bubble

Tech is constantly close to repeating another bubble. This account serves as our official doomsday clock.

@Pendinglarry (now private)

After an earnings release was published prematurely this topical Twitter account fired off a few zingers. A few days later @matthewkeys claimed credit as the author.

Tech headlines range from the brilliant to completely absurd. Some where in middle of that is this account publishing consistently funny headline mockery.

@fauxstolo (Formally @fakedorsey)

Here's where Weird Twitter Tech Edition ends, much like how it began. Weird.A fake account for Twitter CEO Dick Costolo that used to be a fake account of Twitter creator @Jack. Stay with me now.That account (@fakedorsey) is now home to a mock account for the short lived Bravo TV show "Silicon Valley". Someone changed the name at one point and the tweets stopped flowing on both accounts. The secrets of this and so many other Twitter shenanigans we just may never know...
