Entitled: An AI SEO App for Shopify That Shows Its Receipts
Entitled is a Shopify app that gets your product data ready for AI shopping, in one click, and then proves it did something. That is the whole pitch. The rest of this post is just the reasoning.
SEO did not die. It moved.
When a shopper asks ChatGPT or Perplexity what to buy, the AI is not consulting some mystical ranking. Shopify syndicates your actual product titles and descriptions to these platforms. The text sitting in your catalog right now, the one that says "Blue Mug" and nothing else, is the text the AI reads when it decides whether you exist.
OpenAI even publishes the rules. Titles should be attribute-complete. Brand, product, differentiators. No keyword stuffing. Descriptions should actually describe things. It is the least mysterious ranking system in the history of search, and almost every store fails it, because that product data was written in a hurry four years ago and nobody has looked at it since.
The SEO app category responded to this the way app categories always respond. Everyone renamed themselves. AI this, AEO that, GEO if they were feeling spicy. Some apps will generate you an llms.txt file, which sounds impressive until you learn Shopify now generates one automatically and AI crawlers barely read them anyway. One app I tested has a button that "submits your site to AI engines" and then shows you a chart. The chart is counting how many times you pressed the button. I am not making that up. I have screenshots.
What Entitled actually does
Four things, every one of them verifiable.
It scores your catalog. Open the app, hit Scan, and it grades every product against the actual published rules AI shopping assistants use. Title length, attributes, brand presence, description substance. No AI involved in the scoring, just deterministic rules, which means it cannot hallucinate that your candle store sells fishing tackle. This part is free, for your whole store, forever. Prepare to be mildly offended by your number.
It fixes things in one click, with your permission. AI rewrites your weak titles and meta descriptions, grounded in your actual product data. You see every change as a before and after. You approve, it applies, and there is an undo button because I have used bulk tools before and so has my therapist. Nothing touches your store without your click. No autopilot. Autopilot is how a competitor ended up describing a fashion store as a fishing supply company, in production, on a store that paid them for the privilege.
It tells you if any of this is working. Entitled asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude the kinds of questions your actual buyers ask, then reports how often your store shows up in the answers. A mention rate, tracked over time, with the full list of questions so you can see exactly what was asked. I will not promise you a number one AI ranking, because nobody can, and anyone who does is selling you the button chart. What I can give you is a real measurement that moves when your data improves.
It files the paperwork. Every change gets submitted to IndexNow automatically, which feeds Bing, which feeds ChatGPT search. Applied, verified live on your storefront, submitted. Receipts for everything, visible in the app.
And the part I am most stubborn about: everything writes to native Shopify SEO fields. If you uninstall Entitled tomorrow, your improved titles and descriptions stay exactly where they are. The biggest app in this category deletes your metas on the way out, and the most upvoted complaint in their reviews is merchants discovering that. I would rather earn the subscription than hold your data hostage.
The honest pitch
The free plan gives you the AI-Readiness Score for your entire store plus ten AI generations to try. Pro is six dollars a month for five hundred generations, visibility tracking, and the automation. Six dollars, because I run stores myself and I know exactly how it feels to open the app billing page and find eleven tools charging thirty-nine dollars to do one thing each.
If you sell on Shopify, your product data is already being read by AI assistants, today, whether you have opinions about it or not. The only question is whether it is any good.
Install Entitled from the Shopify App Store and find out your score. Then email me your number if it is embarrassing. Mine was too.
FAQ: SEO and AEO, without the fog
What is AEO?
AEO stands for answer engine optimization: making your content and product data easy for AI assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude to read, understand, and cite when they answer questions. For a Shopify store, that mostly means clean, attribute-complete product titles and descriptions, because that is the data AI shopping surfaces actually consume.
What is the difference between SEO and AEO?
SEO optimizes for search engines that return a list of links. AEO optimizes for AI assistants that return one answer. Both reward clear, complete, honest product data, but with AI answers there is no page two, so being readable and specific matters more than ever.
How does ChatGPT decide which products to recommend?
For Shopify stores, ChatGPT reads product data syndicated through Shopify's catalog integration, plus what its search index can retrieve from the open web. OpenAI publishes feed rules: titles under 150 characters, complete attributes like brand and product type, no keyword stuffing. Product data that follows those rules is eligible to be surfaced.
How do I make my Shopify store show up in ChatGPT?
Make every product title and description attribute-complete and accurate, keep your store crawlable by AI bots in robots.txt, and enable the AI-facing sales channels Shopify offers. Then measure how often assistants mention your store instead of guessing. No one can force a mention, but stores with clean data get read and stores with stale data get skipped.
Does llms.txt help my AI SEO?
Mostly no. A large-scale study found the vast majority of llms.txt files are never fetched by AI crawlers, Google has said it ignores them, and Shopify now generates one for every store automatically.
Can any app guarantee AI rankings or placement?
No. OpenAI and Google both state that placement in AI answers cannot be bought or submitted into existence. What you can do is make your product data meet the published standards and measure how often assistants mention you.
Will my SEO changes survive if I uninstall the app that made them?
With Entitled, yes: everything writes to native Shopify SEO fields, so your titles and metas stay after uninstall. Check this before installing any SEO app, because some popular ones store your metas in their own system and take them down on the way out.
Also from my keyboard: I built a Shopify app that deletes your dashboards, about Seam, which explains your store to you in one daily paragraph.
